Communication and Cognition Lab

The members of Communication and Cognition Lab in the department of Communication Sciences and Disorders conduct research in the area of communication and cognition across the life span. The experiments conducted in the lab have been presented at various national and international conferences including the American Speech Language Hearing Association Annual Convention, Academy of Aphasia, Society for the Neurobiology of Language, Cognitive Neuroscience Society, Mental Lexicon, and the Federation of the European Societies of Neuropsychology. The results have been published in journals such as Personality and Individual Differences, Brain and Cognition, International Journal of Neuroscience, Journal of Psycholinguistic Research, Perception, etc. The lab has two iMacs, a Windows laptop, Marantz Digital Recorder, SHURE professional microphone and SuperLab software for building and running experiments. It is also equipped with a Simple Scope to measure skin conductance response and heart rate, Emotiv 3D Brain Activity Map which provides a real-time map of brain activity and iMotions, a software for recognizing emotions.
